High-Stress Professionals

Perfectionists, High-Achievers, & Imposter Syndrome

Many driven, capable, and successful individuals often experience internal pressure to perform and find it challenging to slow down without guilt. Engaging in therapy for professionals can aid perfectionists and high-achievers in understanding the roots of self-criticism, which is essential for burnout prevention. It also helps reduce anxiety and burnout while fostering a more sustainable relationship with important life goals. Together, we can focus on developing smart strategies for stress management, emotional flexibility, and coping with stress that are practical and accessible, even during the busiest times in life.

Healthcare Workers

Healthcare professionals face unique career demands, including long hours, high-stakes decision-making, and exposure to trauma and loss, all of which can lead to burnout. Engaging in therapy for professionals provides a confidential space to address these challenges, offering effective stress management techniques to process stress and prevent burnout. Whether you are navigating compassion fatigue or concerns about work-life balance, I can support you in finding the essential balance between giving to others and giving back to yourself.

Leaders

Leadership roles often come with invisible pressures such as responsibility for the performance of others, difficult decision-making, high performance expectations, and limited opportunities for open discussions about stress. Therapy for professionals in leadership positions focuses on burnout prevention by strengthening emotional intelligence, managing chronic stress, improving communication and conflict navigation, and maintaining healthy boundaries between professional responsibilities and personal life.

Educators

Educators today are navigating increasing workloads, emotional demands from administrators, students, and families, shifting expectations, and concerns about burnout or career sustainability. Engaging in therapy for professionals provides a vital space to process stress, enhance stress management techniques, and reconnect with your 'why.' Embracing these strategies is essential for burnout prevention, ensuring you feel connected to your sense of meaning and purpose in teaching and mentoring roles.

First Responder Families

Therapy Informed by Life & Training

First responders encounter significant stress, unpredictable schedules, and exposure to traumatic events, all of which can impact mood, sleep, relationships, and overall functioning. Family members of these 'front line heroes' often experience similar strain through worry, disrupted routines, and the effects of job stress at home, making burnout prevention crucial for their well-being.

Having grown up surrounded by first responders, I developed a profound respect and understanding for these professionals and their families. My parents and grandparents served as volunteer firefighters, EMTs, search and rescue leaders, wildland firefighters, and spouses of those in similar roles. During my education, I supported state and federal youth preparedness and emergency management initiatives, including community emergency response and public safety education. These experiences provided me with early insights into the professional culture among first responders, the realities of critical incidents, and how these professions can shape family dynamics.

This background motivates me to create a therapeutic environment where first responders and their loved ones feel understood without needing to explain the intricacies of their work. I offer a practical approach to therapy for professionals, focusing on stress management and the psychological impact of this work—addressing trauma symptoms, hypervigilance, irritability, emotional numbing, and strain at home. In treatment, we emphasize building resilience, improving communication with partners and family members, and developing skills to effectively transition between the demands of the job and personal or family life.

I possess advanced training to support couple communication and trauma processing, utilizing techniques from:

- The Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (Level 1)

- Gottman Method Couple Therapy (Level 1)

- Internal Family Systems Therapy (trauma-focused training)
